It is their hard work, determination and constant dedication that 24 women CEOs have entered into the Fortune 500 companies in 2014. And if you are eager to note, here is the list of top 10 women CEOs in the Fortune 500 companies as compiled by The Richest.

1. Mary Barra

Mary Barra is the first female CEO of one of the largest automaker, General Motors. Barra occupied the 7th position in the Fortune’s list. She started working for General Motors at the age of 18 as a co-op student in 1980 and subsequently held a variety of engineering and administrative positions.

Barra was listed as one of the world's most powerful women by Forbes, for the 3rd time, in 2014. She was listed 7th, rising from 35th in 2013. In April 2014, Barra was featured on the cover of Time's "100 Most Influential People in the World.”
