5 Tips To Prevent Your Business From Controlling Your Life

Have a vision for your business for the first three years

If you know what it is that you want to achieve, you can chart out the path to making it happen. Creating a business gets complicated, you may need to do more than you anticipated and your business could end up taking over your life. But if you understand that creating something takes time, and that you have to get to one stage to go to another, will keep you from panicking and working all the time.

Define what success means to you

Don’t push ahead thoughtlessly once your business is on the path to becoming established. Review every opportunity that comes your way to see what impact it will have on both your company and your business resources. If an opportunity seems good for your company, but will require you to give up control of your time, hang back and see if there are other prospects with tradeoffs that work in your favor. If it doesn’t feel good, it isn’t success. Follow these fundamental ground rules and you’ll find that starting a business doesn’t have to be an “all or nothing” proposition.
