10 Billionaires Who Turned Into Politicians And Failed

Saddam Hussein: A household name that is known far and wide for his dictatorship and cruelty on the people of Iraq. Well Saddam was a billionaire by way of having ruled the people with an iron fist and hence accumulating so much wealth that he had over $2 billion as his net worth. He had an option of letting go of his political career after he became a billionaire.

His worse time in his political career began after his amassing of huge wealth. That’s when America invaded Iraq and led to his death.

Mikhail Prokhorov: The Russian billionaire is also the proud owner of one of the NBA teams in America, The New Jersey Nets. Mikhail is the third richest person in Russia and also ran for the Presidential seat opposite Vladimir Putin but lost the race with a huge margin.

His prowess in the business arena could not save him and hence failed miserably in the political arena. Well all that said he still is very rich and couldn’t care less about not winning the race. Hopefully he will contest again.

Thaksin Shinawatra: The Thai business tycoon turned businessman was the prime minister of Thailand for five years until he was thrown out by the military coup. His business success through telecommunications irked up his pride that he could take on the political world as well and failed miserably.

As the Prime minister of Thailand he created more havoc for himself to the point that he lives in exile at the moment. A return to his country would mean jail term and criminal convictions for all his past sins.
