Moving from one role of leadership to another is a challenge,” says Naren Dubey, who takes over as vice president of product development in Moser Baer. “It’s a high-tech endeavor,” he adds, “almost close to chip-manufacturing.” Referring to his previous role in Applied Materials as head of global development strategic group.
In Applied Materials he was leading the company’s initiative in utilizing global resources by creating domain expertise in product development, global manufacturing operations and product support. At Moser Baer, it’s a little different he adds, wherein he will make strategic investments in optical media drives and photovoltaic and various other products.
A new role, says Dubey, but an opportunity to build it from scratch. “A new learning curve wherein I get to build a product development team,” he says.
This Wharton graduate is excited to move beyond the horizon of a semi-conductor company and recruit from a new pool of talent. Prior to Applied Materials, Dubey worked on the development of bio-artificial materials for tissue regeneration for which the American Biomedical Engineering Society recognized him amongst the ‘Top 10 researchers in the field of biomaterials’.
In his free time, Dubey pursues diverse interests such as playing golf and squash, painting and studying eastern philosophy.
