It is a pleasure to present to you the first anniversary issue of The SmartTechie. In certain ways this issue keeps up our one-year-old promise of capturing and delivering insights from the experiences of senior techies, experts from across the globe and provide tips to help shape the career of technical professionals. The journey, so far in our lives, has been the dearest ever anyone of us at the ‘The SmartTechie’ team has experienced.

In the last twelve prolific months we have cut across geographies, spoken to over 800 technology companies to bring you the valuable content—content that we hope has spurred thoughts inciting actions in your career enhancement.

The technology landscape too has changed faster than ever in the year’s time, forcing companies to reconfigure themselves with a greater frequency. The numerous changes are putting pressure on individuals to adapt. Their roles, relationships and workloads are changing constantly. The new environment demands people with depth and breadth of skills and experiences. Gartner Research says, the coming decades will be the era of “versatilists,” people whose numerous roles, assignments and experiences enable them to synthesize knowledge and context in ways that fuel business value.

Going forward, we will bring you the profiles of versitalists around us—people who anticipate, analyze and quickly respond to forces, changes and opportunities. We will showcase the teams and individuals who are reinventing business.

As we put that little step into our second year, we seek your active participation in making this magazine a great success. We invite you to share your thoughts and experiences as we strive to bring you the best that could make a difference in your career. With your valuable input, we would like to take the magazine to its next logical step.
