The IT enabled services is about business and managing knowledge workers. I have heard HR managers say that ‘I have had the biggest support’, because in the knowledge driven business, it is all about sales in the pipeline and having the right kind of people. But if you want to make your business a success, you got to have the best of people available. So the HR strategy should stem out of the organizational strategy.

Typically, organizations have their strategic changes and business plans on an annual basis. Every change that occurs from an organization perspective also requires the HR strategy to evolve. Whenever there is a change, there is a renewal of defining new lines of business, business offerings, new geographies that employees will work in, new domain areas and new verticals to adapt to. So one would require a new policy in managing change in the organization. And that is where the HR has a role and needs support in the organization.

Today when you talk about creating a policy, the HR needs an in-depth perspective of the market benchmark. There has to be parity in benefits being offered to a new employee, who has come in from another organization. So to formulate a policy, it is essential to have an understanding of what the competition is paying.

It is not advisable to just say the HR is responsible for this factor and let him be in isolation. There should be an active collaboration with the delivery. The assistance, the coaching and the counseling from the CEO is what makes the collaboration possible.
