The families in the urban areas of the country do not possess the luxury of the care of parents and grandparents due to the emerging phenomenon of nuclear families and dual working parents. The parents in these nuclear families are keen to send their kids to preschools as soon as they reach the age of two.
"At the first stage of learning, it is imperative for the child to understand the spirit of togetherness i.e. community living - of being in the company of other children," says Meera Narain, Principal, Kinder Valley International Schools.

Kinder Valley, managed by New Line Educational Society - a registered non-profit Society, provides a nurturing environment for the kids at their preschools through their curriculum based on Montessori, and Play way systems of teaching. However, the principal explains that the pedagogy has not simply been aped from the west, instead they have devised and developed innovative expertise with new techniques, new equipments and new teaching aids hence, improving upon their curriculum.

Studies have shown that children learn best through experimentation, interaction and when they are left to their own tools of learning. To facilitate this, stimulating activities and group interactions that encourage play and exploration have been set up in the Preschool. Nurturing, personal care builds trust and self-esteem in a supportive environment which allows the kids to have a positive growth. The curriculum has the right blend of language, science, math, role play, computers, music and movement and art. This enhances the child's imagination, his creativity, motor skills and social skills, and allows him to Discover, Experience and Learn in a playful environment. Complementing the curriculum, the trainers at the Preschool are dedicated to developing the child's learning potential.

The Preschool believes that the trainers should not only be teachers but loving and caring mother like figures. The trainers are groomed to have the patience and deftness required to instill faith and confidence in children so that they feel safe and at home. "At this tender age, children tend to feel the necessity of being nursed more than anything else because they are away from the mothers for the first time," says Narain. "Kinder Valley teachers are passionate about the happiness and education of children and provide a safe, nurturing environment that cultivates self-esteem." She asserts that the teachers of the Preschool are highly trained and experienced in teaching children in different ways suitable to each child's temperament. This is why the School maintains a low Teacher-to-Student ratio of 1: 10.

Kinder Valley Schools have an aura of energy to them that comes out from their music and dance rooms. It is an integral part of a child's play and studies have also proven that children, who swing to the beats of music early in life, develop better analytical, reasoning and mathematical abilities. The Preschool, though operating from a Nursery School site, has a home-like ambience that can deceive any infant into a comfortable state of mind. The rooms are colorful, the furniture is age appropriate and the toys are non toxic. Kinder Valley Schools also have large play areas and open, green spaces. These aspects, combined with the guidance of loving trainers, the Preschool functions as a home away from home.
