5. Apple MacBook Air 13
Price: Rs 89,000
Weight: 1.35 kg
Pros: Performance, display, battery life, fast bootup
Cons: Speakers, the 128GB SSD drive on this device is much smaller than a standard hard drive
This version of the Airbook is better than its predecessor in a few aspects, and then not, but then again, the backlit keyboard makes a welcome return and nothing else matters (no, not really).
The processing power on this device is raised to a new height with the latest Intel chips, and this also improves the battery life. The 13-inch Air features 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage, and is a better bet for trouble-free mainstream computing than the 11-inch version, which defaults to 2GB of RAM and only a 64GB SSD (of which only 48GB is available for use). Now if in case you’re moving toward the cloud-centric way of computing and storage, his shouldn’t be a problem; but if you’d want your data to be available even when you don’t have an internet connection, you should really think about this feature. Battery lasts a good 6 hours, and is bound to relieve anybody who travels and works a lot, but if you’d want to do so with some music; you’re in for some disappointment—the speakers are just passable.
