These digital smart devices have immensely helped the space agencies to control satellites. Using mobile tech in place of the custom-built devices can be much economical in building space-faring computers. It also increases the processing power by almost a factor of 100. Nasa launched several HTC Nexus phones as part of its PhoneSat project, in order to test the smartphone’s hardware, on its capability to act as an on-board computer for a satellite.
