Gionee Offers Fingerprint Sensor in Its Marathon M5 Plus

BENGALURU: Gionee is hitting serious bucks as it includes newer technologies and features into its smartphones, which makes it better and smarter within the competition. The newly launched Marathon M5 Plus smartphone is an upgraded variant of Marathon M5 and features fingerprint scanner on the home button. The fingerprint sensor carries an identification time of 0.38 second and a response time of 0.1 second, according to indianexpress.com.

The Marathon M5 Plus’s talking point is again the big 5,020mAh battery, which Gionee says is good enough to last two days. Furthermore, the battery also supports fast charging and can be fully charged in under two hours. Another talking point is the fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical home button up front. This is the second smartphone in Gionee’s lineup, after the Elife E8, to offer a fingerprint scanner.

Gionee had launched the Marathon M5 just last month in India for a price of 17,999. We are not sure if it will get a price revision in India as well. In terms of specifications, the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus will come with a 6-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It also comes with a 2.5D arc symmetrical design along with Gorilla Glass for protection.

It is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer is 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under Amigo 3.1 UI.
