In the healthcare sector, smartphone’s have transformed from a selfie-snapper to a microscope for effective scanning of DNA. The researchers at the University of California developed a microscope that snaps onto a smartphone to capture image fluorescently-tagged DNA molecules of about 50,000 times thinner than a human hair. The device is used for providing a low-cost and portable tool to diagnose cancers, nervous system disorders, and other drug resistance in infectious diseases.
