Samsung Claims To Have Made Gold Phone Long Before Apple Did

Bangalore: When it comes to Smartphones and their applications, Samsung has garnered fame through ‘borrowing’ Apple’s products for inspiration, which others observe as literally copying another brand. By losing a patent case to Apple last year which required the South Korean company to pay a handful of money, Samsung seems like it is not ready to further smudge its reputation.

Soon after Apple released its gold iPhone5s, Samsung too released its Galaxy S4 in gold. This ruffled quite a lot of feathers from the Apple appreciators as fingers were pointed at Apple for repeating its copy-cat act. In an effort to put a lid on this blame game, Samsung took to its corporate blog to explain and state facts that it was not copying its rival but it had also actually made tons of gold-version phones in the past.

The blog, Samsung Tomorrow goes on about 8 gadgets it made in the past that were given a golden touch. Famous amongst them were the Samsung Galaxy gold flip-phones that were released into market two months ago. Another flip-phone, the Samsung SHW-A330S Wise 2 was also offered in gold in 2012. While Samsung might have imitated the gold color on its devices since 2007, the only actual gold Smartphone it ever made was the limited edition Giorgio Armani Smartphones which no one purchased in 2009.

Even though Apple doesn’t hold any patent to the color gold as it is not the only company to offer gold-colored phones, it is still interesting to note the marketing tactics of Samsung on its decision to release its gold Smartphone just after Apple made its move with its golden 5S.
