Motorola RAZR MAXX

Price: Rs. 29000 - Rs. 31000
The Good: Motorola is back with a slim and sleek phone again. The size of the phone is the major reason to own it. Along with the size the other good news is that the phone is dust, water proof and scratch resistant as well. Another point that would make the phone sell like hot cakes is that its fast processor and powerful battery that gives up to 18 hours of continuous talk time.

The Bad: Because of the size of the phone the slot for the SIM is really small. And to make your normal SIM fit into it you have to cut it, thus making sure that you will need a new SIM if you plan to change your phone. With that 4.3-inch screen it becomes slightly big to fit comfortably in the pocket.

The Bottom Line: The phone is a slim beauty with a fast processor and a powerful battery.

Design: Motorola has always loved thin and slim phones. But with RAZR MAXX they are in fact pushing the limit. This smartphone is just 7.1mm thick. This phone finds itself in the strongest smartphones available in the Indian market. The phone has a Kevlar casing. Kevlar is the very same fabric that is used for making bullet proof jackets and vest. So now you can imagine how strong the casing of this phone would be.

Since the phone is super slim the user will have to make many compromises like for instance the battery. The battery isn’t user-replaceable. The phone has a microSIM card slot which means that you can only insert your normal SIM once you cut it and made it fit the mini slot.

The best is always left for the last. This is yet another phone that is waterproof and considering that India is a land of monsoons there is no better phone to buy than a waterproof one.

Processor and Operating System

The Motorola RAZR MAXX is powered by a powerful 1.2 GHz processor and is supported with 1 GB RAM. These specifications sound quite attractive and they are. The phone runs on the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

It also supports 3G, EDGE/GPRS and Wi-Fi. The GPS in the phone supports Google Maps.

Features and Performance:

Screen: Though the phone is very slim it is slightly on the bigger side which makes it a bit difficult to hold. The screen is 4.3-incheds Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touch screen and has a resolution of 960 X 540 pixels. The screen comes lined with Corning Gorilla Glass which protects it from scratches, dust and water.
The size of the screen presents it well for viewing movies and videos on it. But the screen has a strange green colour tint at low brightness level that can become a distraction when you read a text or surf the net.

Camera: The camera in this super thin smartphone comes with 8 mega pixels which allows the user to click some good pictures in natural light or places with good lighting, though saying this one should also mention the fact that the camera struggles to take decent pictures in poor lighting conditions. The pictures taken in poor light come out grainy. The camera has an LED Flash but the auto focus feature in the camera is a bit of a letdown.
The camera can record 1080 pixels video. The phone also has a secondary camera with a 1.3 mega pixels which allows you to make video calls.

Storage and Connectivity: The phone has an internal storage memory of 16 GB. Motorola has also provided a slot for the microSD card with which you can expand the memory up to 32 GB. Along with a fast processor the phone also boasts about a powerful battery life. It has a Li-Ion 3300 mAh Standard battery which promises to give its users 607 hours of back up battery and a good 18 hours of talk time.

Price and Availability: This smartphone is priced at Rs.32,000 making it a mid range smartphone. If you want to save more money, then checking online shopping sites like infibeam.com, buytheprice.com, saholic.com would be a good idea. The phone is available for as low as Rs.29,990 in some of these sites.

Wrap-Up: Well this is the dustproof and waterproof perfect for you! This phone finds itself in the biggies group along with HTC Sensation XE and Sensation XL and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The phone is meant for people who aren’t exactly kind to their phones. This smartphone can take a lot of rough use and still survive.
