HTC Sensation XL

Price: Rs. 26000 - Rs. 39000
The Good: HTC has worked on its Sensation XL and it has new improved audio on it as it comes with Beats Audio headphones. The screen quality and size is an impressive asset. The phone is powered with a fast processor. On the whole it is a phone worth investing in.

The Bad: The major drawback of the phone is its price, though you can solve that problem with the fantastic deals that are available online. The missing camera button does at times prove be a shortfall in the design and the biggest negative point is that the slot for the microSD card is missing and the user has only 16 GB internal memory of which only 12 GB is useable.

The Bottom Line: Over all the phone is a good investment, even though the resolution may seem on the lower side, it doesn’t hamper the screen quality. The screen quality can compare to the likes of Galaxy S2 which has a 4+ inch Super-AMOLED screen.

Design: At the first glance the design of Sensation XL beats the other HTC phones. The HTC Sensation XL like its name XL is truly huge. Well on a more serious note the phone has a 4.7 inch screen and is slim measuring just 9.9 mm.

The power button is located on the top which also doubles as a button to lock the screen and also highlight it. The volume control buttons are on the right upper side of the phone and the microUSB port is on the lower left side of the phone.
Though the surprising part of the design is that the camera button is missing.

This phone is available only in one color, so basically you don’t have any choice. If you want a HTC Sensation XL you will have to buy it in white. It has a silver back with a Beats Logo that can be found on the lower back of the phone.

Processor and Operating System

The HTC Sensation XL is powered by a fast 1.5 GHz processor which is backed by a 768 MB RAM. You will find switching through applications quite easy and browsing on the internet will be fast and enjoyable.

The disappointment in store for the users is that the phone works on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread version. If the phone operated on Android 4.0 it would have been a wonderful gift from HTC. But you can never have everything on one phone.

Features and Performance:

Screen: The Sensation XL comes with a gigantic screen size of 4.7-inch. The size almost makes it look like a mini 5-inch tablet. The screen seems to dominate the entire front side of the phone. The screen does impress but the let down is its resolution which is only 800 X 480 pixels. This resolution sits perfectly for a smaller screen phone but in this case it loses it sharpness because of the huge screen size. The colors aren’t as vivid as it competitors like the iPhone or Samsung Super AMOLED models, or even other phones from HTC like the Sensation XE.

But because of its size it has the advantage of comfortable movie viewing, reading books and browsing the web and the phone is highly sensitive to touch.

Camera: The camera on the Sensation XL is quite a treat. It is an 8 mega pixel camera and this comes along with features like bright dual LED flash, autofocus and face detection. And compared to its cousins this one is one camera to look out for. The camera has a wide lens that enhances the picture quality and the pictures clicked in day light can easily compare with the best in the world. It also records video at 720 pixels HD. It also has a front camera of 1.3 megapixels that enabled video calling.

Storage and Connectivity: The phone has an internal memory of 16GB. But here lies disappointing news, there is no slot for the microSD card. Which means that we are stuck with just 16 GB of memory and this can get a little frustrating at times.

At a time when the power of the battery is important Sensation XL isn’t a letdown. The phone is powered with a 1,600 mAh battery that compliments the big screen and the powerful processor. The battery will give you a day or two of usage back up.

Price and Availability: This smartphone is priced at Rs.37,000 making it a high end smartphone from HTC. The phone is available on infibeam.com and flipkart.com for a surprisingly good package. The phone is available on buytheprice.com for just Rs.29,990. So if you really want the phone, this is a deal you cannot miss.

Wrap-Up: The Sensation XL doesn’t disappoint and with the amazing online deals the phone is worth a buy. It compare with the best in the smartphone category.
