Spice Mi-355 Stellar Craze
The budget Android smartphone has become a new trend in the market. With the Stellar line up of smartphones, Spice has entered the Rs.10000 marks smartphone segment and gained popularity along with giving good competition for Karboon and Micromax. Our team recently reviewed Mi-355’s big brother - Spice Mi-425 Stellar which comes with 4 inch screen size and a bit costlier.
Look and Feel: In terms of design Mi-355 is totally different from its bigger version Mi-425. It comes with 3.5 inch screen with a very sturdy body. Plastic is used for construction but feels solid and glossy. The back covers fits perfectly without any loose bits.
The volume rockers and power on/off key feel very strong. The phone fits comfortable for single hand use.
On front you'll find 3.5 inch display and four touch capacitive buttons below the screen. At the back you will see 5.0 mega pixel shooter and a large Spice logo below.
Processor and Interface: The Craze Mi-355 is powered with single core processor at a clock speed of 800 MHz, paired with 512 MB of RAM and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system.
Display: It sports 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and produces 256k color which is decent for entry level smartphones at this price point. Moreover it also features multi touch.
Camera: It has a 5 mega pixel camera the back with dual LED flash which captures pictures at a resolution of 2502 x 1944 pixels and also record videos. It also has a front facing VGA camera for 3G video calling.
Media and Connectivity: In terms of audio the device is one of the good ones with customized media player and default Music app. The audio quality is average and the phone comes with FM radio capability. The phone supports standard video player and can’t open MOV, MP4 or FLV formats.
It comes with all standard connectivity options like GPRS, 3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and a microSD card slot for expanding memory up to 32 GB.
Battery Life: The Craze Mi-355 comes with Li-Ion Standard battery at 1420 mAh power. The battery gives a decent day usage with calling and little bit of texting and Facebooking. The company claims it will provide the battery life up to 4 hours and standby time up to 192 hours.
The Bottom Line: If you want to try out the Android experience without shedding more money, then this phone is a good option. The screen is not usable outdoor and the battery life is average, but still you can buy this phone for its looks, Android experience and off-course the price.
