Nokia Lumia 900

Price: Rs. 30000 - Rs. 35000
The Good: The first thing that strikes you when you look at the Lumia 900 is the uni-body design of the handset. The other features like the crystal clear 4.3-inch screen and the 8 mega pixel camera are it positive points.

The Bad: Though smartphone has a beautiful body design there are some minor fall outs in the design of the phone. The buttons are placed weirdly and they aren’t very user friendly. The camera specifications don’t live up to the expectations.

The Bottom Line: The design of the phone is the main attraction and it comes loaded with high end features that make the phone to own.

Design: Nokia Lumia 900 looks a lot like its cousin Lumia 800 but Lumia 900 is slightly bigger than the Lumia 800. Like the other range of Lumia smartphones 900 comes in a colorful plastic encasing. This phone also has a protective Gorilla Glass covering the touch screen. The smooth body of the phone makes it easy to slide into the pocket in a hurry also. The phone has three touch sensitive navigation buttons on the front side of the phone. On the right side of the phone you will find the volume control, the power button and the camera start up button. The audio jack is located at the top of the phone along with the microUSB charging port.

The device is available in three colour variants; black, cyan and pink.

Processor and Operating System

Well at the price at which Lumia 900 is available in the market, the processor is a letdown. The smartphone is powered by a single core 1.4 GHz processor. The processor is a disappointment because many smartphones in the same price range are offering the user a dual core or at times even quad core handsets.

The smartphone Lumia 900 functions on the latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. The operating system has an overall clean and neat look to it and easy to understand and operate even if it’s your first time with the operating system. The social networking sites Facebook and Twitter are incorporated in to the software thus making it easy for you to stay connected all the time.

Features and Performance:

Screen: Look wise the Nokia Lumia 900 and Lumia 800 look very similar. But the similarity ends with the first glance as the screen. Lumia 900’s 4.3 inch in size making it bigger than its sister smartphone which stands at 3.7 inch touch screen. The AMOLED touch screen comes with a protective Gorilla Glass and comes with an 800 X 480 pixels resolution. The screen also has Nokia’s ClearBlack technology which provides its users with contrast and easy viewing.

Camera: Like all the high end smartphones from Nokia, even Lumia 900 comes with a Carl Zeiss lens 8 mega pixel primary camera. The opening response is quite fast from the camera and offers many settings which can be used while talking pictures. But one has to be extremely cautious when one takes pictures in poor lighting as the camera isn’t equipped to handle poor lighting. The phone also comes with a 1 megapixel front facing camera that can take self pictures as well as help in video calling.

Storage and Connectivity: Memory wise Nokia Lumia 900 is no different from the other Windows Phone. It doesn’t have a slot for a microSD card thus limiting the memory of the device to the amount that it originally comes with. So for many of us the internal memory of 16 GB might not prove to be sufficient enough. But Nokia does provide the user with 25 GB free cloud storage with comes along with Microsoft’s SkyDrive service.

Price and Availability: The Nokia Lumia 900 is currently not available in the Indian markets. But the expected price has been listed between Rs.30,000 to RS.35,000, but as usual you needn’t worry because as soon as the handset will arrive in the Indian markets they will be available on online shopping sites like Flipkart.com, saholic.com, buytheprice.com and infibeam.com which will offer the handset at attractive discounts.

Wrap-Up: When compared to the Lumia 800 it is bigger and has a lovely screen. But as far as the processor and the memory capacity is concerned it’s like the Lumia 800. Keeping in mind the price and specifications Nokia Lumia 800 seems a better buy.
