The very gorgeous Dorothy Hamill, was the apple of everyone’s eyes when she won the gold in figure skating for America at the 1976 Olympics. She had danced right into the hearts of many Americans with her style of skating. She, however, made her riches by being an active member of ‘Ice Capades.’ Ice Capades had helped her gain her very first $1million contract a year, the first of its kind.

The Hiccup: Hamill had been instrumental in trying to save Ice Capades when it filed for bankruptcy in the 1990’s. So, as a tribute to save her beloved institution, she and her husband bought it for an undisclosed amount in the year 1993. They tried their level best to change the perception of the masses about the company but were unsuccessful. People had labeled the company and its acts as “cartoonish” and did not change their outlook. Ice Capades finally went bankrupt in the year 1995.
