Know Why Tax Refunds Get Delayed

Bangalore: Many of the honest tax payers have pending Income Tax (I-T) returns. Delayed refunds remain high on the list of complaints against the I-T department, either for its lethargy or the growing number of tax payers. One of the prime challenges for any tax payer is to get the refund as it is a lengthy and time-consuming process.

Along with it, it’s most important to file for the tax return before the due date that is July 31. Amarpal Chadha Tax Partner, Ernst & Young says, “In case there are any taxes payable (after considering TDS, advance taxed and other credits available), any failure to file the returns of income within the due date would attract interest at the rate of 1 percent per month for the delay in filing the returns”, as quoted by ET.
