There is minimum transparency in pricing for grievance redressal. Service providers may charge anything over and above the normal fees. "At present, service providers are required to mention the service tax along with the service charge on the bill. This is meant to prevent service providers from charging other sneakier fees," said Sri Ram Khanna, consumer activist. However, the declaration by Bombay High Court that non-advocate could also present the case in consumer court, is a huge relief for the appellants.
