5 Key Points You Might Not Know About Credit Cards

2. Do compare the cards

Banks, credit unions, retailers, and credit card companies all issue credit cards except the Visa and MasterCard companies, they only help in process payments but they don't issue cards. Before you choose any cards compare it with other cards too. For innumerable credit card options available there are websites available where you can compare them and then choose your right card. From one website called Google’s credit card search tool, users can actually narrow down their search by interest rate, rewards and a dozen other factors. Other websites like IndexCreditCards.com, Bankrate.com, CreditCards.com, CreditKarma.com and NerdWallet.com offer credit card search tools.

3. You should know what a “grace period” means

Do you know what grace period is? If no, then that's because grace periods apply more often to installment loans. In this regard, the term refers to the period of time you have after the due date passes on your payment, to still be considered "on time." But the term means something completely different when it comes to credit cards.  A credit card's grace period is how long you can pay your balance in full to avoid being hit with interest on the balance, and must always be received on the due date to avoid late penalties. After that due date, there is no window of time in which you can successfully avoid a fee.
