5 Fundamental Rights Of A Policy Holder

4. Rights to ask about the premium payment: It’s not in every ones hand to pay the premium amount at one shot. Few policy holders find it difficult to pay premium in lump sum, keeping this in mind the IRDA has defined a right for those policy holders to change the frequency of payment of premium.  To change the amount of premium one can easily apply at the beginning of the policy year.

5. Rights regarding procedure for a claim: If the policy holder files a claim, that he or she will provide all the necessary documents and suppose the insurance company needs any additional documents, then it has to make the request within 15 days of receipt of the claim. The claim can either be paid or declared as disputed by the insurance company. In any case, the insurance company is liable to provide specific reasons for dispute or pay the claim amount within 30 days from the date of receiving the documents from the policyholder.
