4. Cowardice Tax

This unique and funny kind of tax used to be levied against people who chose not to fight for the King, which means cowardice tax was not just because of the cowardice. This tax was popularly known as scutage. This tax institution was handled by Henry I. Cowardice tax was relatively cheap initially but King John raised this figure by 300 percent in the years when there were no wars. This tax was later on levied on the Knights as well.

5. Hat Tax

British Government used to levy this particular tax on men’s hat from 1784 to 1811. Hat tax was first introduced during the ministry of Pitt the Younger. It was only a way of revenue for the government which was based roughly upon each person’s wealth. As per the hat tax, hat retailers have to buy a license and display the sign dealer in hats by retail.
