9. Alisher Usmanov

Alisher Burkhanovich Usmanov is the oligarch of Russia's oligarchs. He made his wealth primarily from mining, lumber and investment. He runs Gazprominvestholding, an investment arm of Russia's state gas monopoly. His chief asset is a 45 percent stake in Mettalloinvest, which is Russia's largest iron ore producer. He is also an investor in Groupon and Facebook and owns a 29 percent stake in the English Premier League's Arsenal with a partner.
