C.Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology (CAHCET) was established in the year 1998 by Melvisharam Muslim Educational Society, popularly known as MMES, committed to the service of the people, has been striving to provide literacy to the downtrodden, underprivileged people.Initially, the C.Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology was started with three disciplines viz., Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Computer Science & Engineering. Then, the college had to its credit four additional courses, viz., B.Tech-Information Technology, B.E-Electronics and communication engineering, Aeronautical Engineering and Civil Engineering. In 2006-07 the intake of students in E.C.E department has been increased from 60 to 90 and in 2008-09 the intake of student in C.S.E department has been incresed from 90 to 120. Three P.G courses viz M.B.A, M.E Applied electronics , Computer Science & Engineering, CAD/CAM Engineering and MCA have also been started in recent years.

The college has a strength of about 1816 students with 502 students admitted to the first year, for its seven branches of Engineering during the year 2009. The college also has strength about 302 PG students with 167 admitted in the year 2009 for the five branches. The Institution is fully equipped with all the necessary infrastructure facilities like independent blocks, well furnished class rooms with OHP facilities. The laboratories and Workshops are fully equipped with the state of the art facilities, particularly the computer center, CAD and CAM Labs are value added assets to the Institution. Our Internet centre is open to the students and staff from to every day. The library is set up in a total area of 570 sq. m with two storey attached to the Main Block.
The institution provides transport facilities, by operating well-furnished buses and vans to cater the needs and benefit of the students and staff. The cafeteria in the campus provides hygienic refreshments to staff and students.
The boys' hostel is situated within the college campus and girls' hostel is placed off-campus at a distance of 1 km from the college. The present area of location of the institution and the greenish garden with colorful flowers that are grown and maintained just before the main block, indeed give a conducive environment to the students for effective learning inside the campus.
