The Bengal College of Engineering and Technology was set up by the SKS Educational and Social Trust in 2001 with an objective of imparting quality education in Engineering and Technology. The aim of the Bengal College of Engineering and Technology has been to maintain a liaison with the industries on one hand and the premier engineering institutions of the region (like the IIT {Kharagpur}, NIT {Durgapur}, CMERI { Central Mechanical Engineers Research Institute, Durgapur} , ISI {Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata}, Jadavpur University {Kolkata} ) on the other. The College is Approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE-New Delhi), under Ministry of HRD, the Govt. of India and is Affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). It is recognised by the Govt. of West Bengal.

Since its inception, Bengal College of Engineering and Technology has been developing very fast, and today it has got a very commendable infrastructure, which includes a well built campus, airy class-rooms, well equipped labs, well facilitated separate hostels for boys and girls with 24x7 security, power back-up, PNB bank, etc.

The Hon'ble chief minister of West Bengal, Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and many other high profile Ministers and dignitaries such as Late Mrinal Banerjee, Shri Banso Gopal Choudhury, Late Subhash Chakraborty, Shri Surya Kanta Misra have visited and praised the college campus.
