A kid reciting English rhymes in front of guests is a usual scene in Indian families. It is also very entertaining to watch the little ones completing their task in front of everyone while staring at the roof or drawing indiscernible patterns on the floor with their toe. Then everyone would appreciate the kid, but no one would check whether the kid knows the meaning of what she/he just sung. Kids are very fast in copying others and that is the reason why they learn the rhyme without even bothering about the meaning of it, which is evidently an underutilization of kids natural talent to grasp new things. When Kennedy came back to Chennai after completing his education from Africa, his city was still contemplating about the need of preschools in the society. Even though Chennai had bunch of day care centres, a typical preschool that caters to the overall development of kids below five years was a distant dream. Kennedy, who himself has seen how kids abroad are nurtured through various activities, did not have to speculate more about establishing his first venture. In 2000, Pebbles Preschool became a reality in Chennai. In the long journey of 14 years, Kennedy never advertised Pebbles in any newspapers or elsewhere, however, the admission to the preschools were always full. |

Why Pebbles is Special?
The city of Chennai is known for its hot and humid weather. To cope up with such tough conditions and make the students feel comfortable inside the playschool, the management had air-conditioned all the classrooms in the establishment way back in 2000. By doing so, Pebbles became the first preschool in Chennai, with air-conditioned classrooms. At Pebbles, the classrooms are fitted out with everything to the child's scale, allowing them to be independent of adults. The classrooms are large enough with lots of space to move around. Along with that, the chairs and tables inside the playschool are randomly arranged, which again create a homely feeling inside the kid's mind. Teacher's skill plays a strong role in influencing the child's power to grasp and learn concepts.
