Yahoo's Year In Review India 2013 Announced


‘100 years of cinema’ was a historic milestone for India – and earned the top slot in online searches on Bollywood Moments.  Pran’s demise was the second most searched in this category. Other newsmakers included Kamal Hasan’s magnum opus Viswaroopa, which saw online interest not only for the movie but also for the controversies surrounding the release. Chennai Express created box office history becoming the biggest grosser in the history of Indian cinema, and riding on the success of several 100-crore club entries, Deepika Padukone emerged as one of the top Bollywood newsmakers of the year. The Supreme Court’s verdict on Sanjay Dutt and his subsequent arrest was another Bollywood development that shook the online world. Sunny Leone continued to hold sway as the most-searched celebrity in the second year in a row, with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif following in the ranks.

In fashion and lifestyle, 2013 saw a variety of quirks from nerdy frames, neon colors, to nail art, and plaid fashion. Deepika Padukone emerged as the Yahoo Lifestyle Fashionista of the Year 2013.

Indians turned out to be very enthusiastic about travel as searches on Yahoo revealed.  Users searched for offbeat destinations, along with the usual suspects placing Tranquebar at Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh amongst Most Searched Destinations in 2013.

Other themes which dominated the daily habits of online users in India include International sports, Scams and controversies, Most shocking photos and videos of 2013, Video themes of 2013, Cuisine moments amongst others.
