Software Firm Cymfony Raises $7M Series D

LONDON:Cymfony Inc., a provider of real-time business intelligence, market research and automated media analysis, has closed a $7 million Series D round.
Dr. Rohini Srihari founded Cymfony in 1996 and served as its CEO until January 2001.
New investor Ascent Venture Partners led the round with participation from existing investors Trident Capital and Hearst Interactive Media, a division of The Hearst Corp.
As a result of the financing, Chris Lynch, partner at Ascent, will join the board. Matt Fates, a principal at Ascent, will be working with the company in an advisory capacity.
Chief Executive Andrew Bernstein said that funding would be used for sales and marketing and product development, specifically on creating vertically oriented versions of its product for industries like financial services and legal
