PETERBOROUGH: For the first time in the history of the consulting profession, the leaders of 13 global consulting firms cast ballots earlier this month to elect the people they believe should be counted among the year's most influential consultants. The Consulting Magazine names Rajat Gupta of McKinsey & Company among the Top 25 Consultants of 2003 for making extraordinary contributions to both industry and the consulting profession. The Consulting Magazine recently tasked its board -- an assembly of CEOs and leaders from the profession's most esteemed firms -- with completing ballots designed to rank the professional endeavors of consultants. "The results speak for themselves," says Jack Sweeney, Editor in Chief of Consulting Magazine, which released the list. "This is a list every consultant should be proud of. It's a list that will raise the stature of consulting as a profession." Among the mix of strategists, technologists and innovative management thinkers in the 2003 list of the Top 25 Consultants are new leaders of firms like former CIA director just one year into his high-profile consulting career. Consulting Magazine is published by Kennedy Information, a leading information source on management consulting.
