Fremont: Companies put in a lot of money, research and development, and market study before launching a new product. Somehow some products succeed, while others fail, miserably. Here are the worst product failures in IT.

Zune

zune, ipod, microsoft, apple, hardwareMicrosoft's Zune (an answer to the iPod) failed miserably due to lack of style and simplicity of interface. While the iPod was sleek, Zune came it as chunky; and could not be used with the iTunes (which was reigning the online music market). Despite heavy advertising by Microsoft, Zune fell flat on its face with its revenues declining by 54 percent. Apple created a very distinctive place in the minds of the consumers, which made the name "iPod" to become generic with a music player; a position Microsoft couldn't achieve. As of 2011, Microsoft has announced to discontinue all Zune hardware.
