Bottled Water

bottle, water, bottled water, bottled drinking water, mineral waterPlastic bottles are one of the most widely available items in any landfill site, which pollute the environment more than they promise to clean. Over eight billion bottles are consumed annually around the world (one can imagine the percent of garbage created by the bottles itself), and only 20 percent of these bottles are recycled. Over 42 percent of the so-called ‘mineral water’ is filled from the municipal sources, which makes the consumer to pay around 240 to 1000 percent of the cost they already pay to the government for the tap water. The state and federal guidelines do not apply to the item as it is a service, rather than a product, and more than 20 percent of the cost of bottled water is owed to the secondary inputs—packaging, transportation and marketing—rather than the cost of water itself. Another fact, which makes bottled water just an eyewash is than it takes three times more water to create a one-time use bottle of water than it takes to fill it.
