Unsolved Mystery: World's 7 Airplane Disappearances

British South American Airways Star Dust, 1947:  When it comes to airline mysteries, few have posed as many unanswered questions as the Star Dust. The flight originally scheduled to fly from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Santiago, Chile disappeared on August 2nd, 1947. However the flight would never reach its destination and the fate of the British South American Airways Lancastrian 3 airliner remain unknown for over 5 decades.  The Star Dust’s manifest showed six passengers and five crew members on board flight CS59.

Reginald Cook, the captain, was a distinguished Royal Air Force pilot with extensive combat experience in World War II. Cook’s first and second officers were also war veterans with combat experience. The plane never reached its destination, but the radio operator managed to send out one final cryptic Morse code message - reading "STENDEC" before it disappeared.
Since then, theories about what happened to the plane and the meaning of the cryptic final message have grown over the years and include UFO attacks, sabotage and the deliberate explosion of the flight to destroy diplomatic documents carried by a passenger. The Star Dust wasn't discovered until 50 years later, when two Argentine mountaineers found fragments of the engine and shreds of clothing.
