Unakoti

UnaKoti Tirtha is famous for its unique stone and rock cut images of the 7th - 9th century AD. The meaning of Unakoti is ‘one less than a crore’ and it is believed that the place contains these many rock cut carvings. Furthermore three massive images of Nandi Bull are found which is half exposed and half buried in the ground. Ashokastami Mela is a big fair held annually in Unakoti in the month of April. Thousands of pilgrims from all over the country flow to this place to attend the function.
