2. Mayawati:

The Uttar Pradesh CM, Mayawati feels that FDI in retail sector would make UP a bankrupt state. She also said that this decision have been taken to favor and benefit the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s foreign friends. This move has been aimed as the supremo Sonia Gandhi is ill and party has the intention to make Rahul Gandhi as an acting party president which would be easy for him to stand for PM elections in future. The strong statement of Mayawati has made the work of UPA government tougher. Mayawati says that this decision will force the small traders to shut their business and the beneficiaries will be only the central government and the global business players.

3. Mamata Banerjee:

TMC chief Mamta Banerjee said that she will hold a strong protest against 51 percent of FDI in retail. She says that the government should consult and make a decision keeping the majority in mind. India is an agro based country and the majority of the population is dependent on farming. The small and big shops in West Bengal will experience huge loss and will suffer for their daily living she said. Emerging of multi brands in India would hamper the life of small businesses and traders. Not all can afford branded goods, India is not America, and so decisions should be taken according to the situation of the place. In country like India where the economy is imbalanced and inflation is soaring high, a decision like would affect the common man. Mamta said Food, clothing and shelter are the primary things that need to be addressed and luxury is only a secondary option in India. The country should know what their capacity is.
