4.  The Web of Things

Our homes, our cars and our Smartphones will interact with us and with each other seamlessly. Two technologies that help to achieve this are Near Field Communication (NFC) and ultra low power chips that harvest energy from its environment. The Web of Things makes computing a normal way of interacting with our surroundings rather than being limited to desktop or tablet versions. With this technology IBM’s Smarter Planet, has introduced new ways of social networking, healthcare and much more. Mobile bill payments through NFC will become widespread and there will be new ways of advertising.

3. Massively Online

Instead of playing with a computer, it is always interesting to play with our fellow species. Massively online facilitates gaming with a large number of people simultaneously. “World of Warcraft” is one such example. In the education sector, Khan Academy and Code Academy are taking e-learning to a mega scale. Political leaders and spiritual gurus are using this to connect with their audience. It can be remembered that President Obama used Google Hangout to reach his voters.
