3. Rsync

One of the most popular backup solutions, Rsync enables the user to do flexible incremental remote and local backups. Rsync also enables to update the directory trees while preserving links, ownerships, privileges etc. and backups the file using rsh, ssh or direct sockets. Rsync is command oriented but has a GUI front ends available. Using these front ends though reduces the flexibility option from Rsync.

4. Mondorescue

Mondorescue is the apt backup utility to perform disaster recovery as it is capable of backing up the entire installation. One of the biggest pros of Mondorescue is that it can it can backup to nearly any medium including CD, DVD, tape, NFS, hard disk etc. The formats that Mondorescue supports are LVM ½, RAID, ext2, ext3, and ext4, JFS, XFS, ReiserFS and VFAT. It is thus used by large companies and thus its reliability can be guaranteed.
