5. IE 6 flat-lined in the US, sparking celebrations among Microsoft’s developers. Microsoft, with statistics of the browser’s usage from Net Market Share Applications, launched a countdown site and congratulated countries that had lesser than 1 percent of its population using the 10 year old browser.

 

 

6. Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, according to the Business Insider, hinted to an Italian newspaper, Corriere Della Sella, about Google’s move “to market a tablet of the highest quality”. DigiTimes reported its sources saying the tablet is expected to hit markets in March-April, and will run the Ice-cream Sandwich OS. It is expected to be sized and priced to compete with Amazon’s kindle, at 7inches, for lesser than US $199.
