Tech Headquarters: Visionary Designs Or Cursed Trophies?

Facebook Inc has plans for Facebook West, an addition to its main campus in Menlo Park, California, which will have the size of seven-and-a-half football fields. Gehry was hired by Facebook to implement his trademark style of unexpected angles, where a worker can wander from one end to the other without going through a door.

Apple has a grand idea of building a 2.8 million square foot glass ring on 176 acres. The company plans to keep it as a monument to former Chief Executive Steve Jobs, who described it as like a spaceship who was involved in the plans before his death in 2011. It is said to house about 12,000 Apple employees and will cost up to $5 billion.

According to the sources, Apple, Amazon and Facebook are not getting tax breaks or other similar financial incentives for their plans and it is left unsure whether Google is receiving any incentives. Although these plans exude optimism, they face the risk of bringing down a curse that has happened to big companies similar to constructing pyramid-scale palaces.
