Successful Engineering Entrepreneurs without an Engineering Degree

2. Wright Brothers

American Aviation Pioneers

The inventors and pioneer aircraft entrepreneurs the Wright brothers had very minimal education. While Younger brother Orville completed merely three years of high school, elder brother Wilbur was able to go to high school for only four years. Skilled engineers and highly intellectual, the duo was self trained in various facets of mechanical work like Editing, printing, designing bicycles and obviously flying airplanes.

“In memory and intellect, there was none like him. He systemized every thing. His wit was quick and keen. He could say or write anything he wanted to. He was not very talkative. His temper could hardly be stirred. He wrote much. He could deliver a fine speech, but was modest,” says Bishop Milton about Wilbur Wright. In spite of the lack of education and several unfortunate events that restrained them from learning engineering formally, the vigor and constant determination of the brothers led them to invent one of the finest engineering breakthroughs ever.
