South Is India's Safest Destination For Working Women

With just a staggering 19 such cases, South Indian states fares far better. Among the South Indian states, Karnataka acquired the topmost position with nine cases recorded, followed by Andhra Pradesh (5), Tamil Nadu (3) and Kerala (2). These states are recorded with lower number of cases then other states in the country.

Regarding the cases of other Indian States like Rajasthan (42 complaints), Madhya Pradesh (38), Haryana (23) and Maharashtra (22), it has witnessed more complaints individually than all the four southern states put together.

Sociologist Sudha Sitaram is of the opinion that such problem is not just restricted to workplaces but it reflects the kind of society we resides. On this context, Sulata Shenoy, a psychologist stated that the problem will not go away as long as men view woman as a mere objects of desire.
