Safety of Journalists, an Unanswered Question in India


The incident was later claimed as a case of mistaken identity. The report added that two other Indian journalists were killed in accidents while on assignments. The most recent Mumbai gangrape of a 23-year-old woman photojournalist has once again proved the fact that India is not at all a safe place for journalists.

India’s immediate neighbor Pakistan has been ranked as the third most dangerous country where five journalists have been killed in the first half of the current year. This country has consistently been ranked among the most dangerous countries for journalists as they are caught between warring political parties, the security forces and militant or extremist networks.
The world today is at risk with the Fourth estate of most of the countries often getting targeted by evil hands.
