Nations That Taste the Bitter Feeling of Failure

Bangalore: In this present era, though the world has developed as a global village, there are still many countries which are yet to attain the status of developing or a developed nation. Such nations are mostly regarded as a failed nation and this is attributed to the lack of many developmental elements required for the progress of a country. Recently, the Foreign Policy magazine has released its annual 'Failed States Index' with the aim of promoting greater stability worldwide. Here are the names of failed nations as listed by ffp.statesindex.org-

1. Somalia:

Somalia, a country located in the Horn of Africa, tops the list of failed nations for the sixth time mainly because of widespread lawlessness, ineffective government, terrorism, insurgency, crime, and well-publicized pirate attacks against foreign vessels. This is one such country in the world which has been torn by conflict for over 4 decades since its independence. This war-torn state has a life expectancy of only 51 and an infant mortality rate of 2 out of 10. The country still remains effectively divided and hardly governed, with the northern provinces of Somaliland and Puntland functioning like that of independent states. The human development indicators remain discouraging and in many cases, it is missing. Somalia’s per capita GDP of $115 is considered to be the lowest in the world.
