Rob Glaser: The Brain Behind RealPlayer
Rob Glaser founded RealNetworks (formerly known as Progressive Networks), a provider of Internet media delivery software and services in 1994. Glaser was an executive at Microsoft for 10 years. The company’s products include RealAudio, RealVideo, RealPlayer, RealDownloader, Unifi, Rinse, and Helix.
The company went public in 1997, but then went into troubled waters and had accumulated $12.4 million in losses. The company has also acquired a lot of other companies, including Trymedia, Gametrust, Sony NetServices, Atrativa, WiderThan, Zylom Media Group, Mr.Goodliving, GameHouse, Listen.com, NetZip, Xing Technology, and Vivo Software.
