7. Iraq:

The conditions of Human Rights in Iraq still remain severe, especially for detainees, journalists, activists, and women. The security forces continue to arbitrarily detain and torture detainees by holding some of them illegally outside the custody of the Justice Ministry. In 2012, the Justice Ministry announced a record number of executions, but provided less information about the identities of those who were executed. Peaceful protest in Iran is often responded with intimidation, threats, violence, and arrests of protesters and journalists by the Iraq security forces.

6. Afghanistan:

Afghanistan’s Human Rights situation is a topic of major controversy. Though, it was the Taliban who were well known for numerous human rights abuses, till date several human rights violations continue to take place in the post-Taliban regime. The fourth estate, media is fully controlled by the government and as such it has limited freedom to broadcast anything according to their wish. Due to which, it invokes Islamic law and has encouraged self-censorship by its government.
