June 6th: A New Era of Internet Begins

Web giants like Facebook, Google and Yahoo has already packed their bags to move into the new platform. They have made the access to their main web sites via IPv6. Yahoo is ready to offer Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Finance and Yahoo Mail in upcoming months. As the main preference of IPv6 was protection, websites are now continuously encouraging other firms to follow their path into IPv6 as it provides better communication, security and sharing.

Not only the websites but the networking kit makers are also onboard in discovering the new platform. Four vendors- Cisco, D-Link, NEC Access Technica and ZyXEL are in the mix for the big leap.

Don’t panic when you find that your hardware or software isn’t compatible with IPv6, because the internet is made to run parallel and IPv6 is also compatible with IPv4. But if you are to do ant furthur purchases please make sure that the product is ready to work with IPv6.

"However, if you haven't already started making plans for the transition to IPv6, you should.” said Cisco’s Sampa Choudhuri. “The first step you should take is determining how and when to transition to the new internet protocol based on your business needs."
