The group claims to have volunteers from different walks of life such as students, academicians and professionals from fields as diverse as Law, Journalism, Management and Engineering, Arts and Sciences and Medicine. The survey was conducted over a period of 45 days focusing on three sectors of the economy- Finance, Software & IT Services and Engineering and had 455 respondents from various Indian and foreign MNCs. The survey was aimed to evaluate the workplace environment with reference to gay and lesbian employees in the Indian corporate workplace. The respondents were from leading MNCs like Google, Accenture, CSC, Goldman Sachs, HP, IBM, Infosys, Intel, Microsoft, TCS, Wipro etc. The total respondents consist of 69.2 males and 30.8 females of which 65 percent were gays, 25 percent lesbians and 10 percent bisexuals. The survey reveals that a majority of LGBT employees prefer sharing their sexual orientation to their close friends and family than colleagues or managers. 49 percent choose to remain secret not revealing it to their co-workers and 68.5 percent would not want to share it with their managers. 33.4 percent of workers would not accept an LGBT co-worker while 44.7 percent managers would not like to work with them. Half of the employees are not aware of any other LGBT person in their workplace and 3 out of 4 LGBT employees are members of the Employee Resource Groups if available in their organization and 84 percent of them believe it has it has helped them.
