Internet Turns 25, Has Changed The World For Better


Initially the WebPages were static, read-only text and the images could only open in new window. After the invention of user-friendly browser Mosaic, this defect has been diminished. The WebPages became much better with inline images and it included most of the features that can be seen today in the browser.

In April 1993, the Swiss Laboratory CERN had approved the Tim Berners-Lee’s proposal. This paved the way for global phenomenon and made the World Wide Web what it is today.

Today using this web billions of people around the world share their information, photos and status updates. As the web has connected the people all over the world, it has also faced some challenges such as balancing openness, security and privacy. “We should consider the next 25 years and ensure that we have established the principles that the webpage is being based on principles of openness, principles of privacy and security”, said Tim Berners-Lee.

Berners-Lee added he would utilize this occasion of internet’s 25th anniversary to motivate people for deciding the future of the web. Berners-Lee also said that he wants to make the web available and affordable for all people around the world.
