India's 8 Erstwhile Royals Who are Vying for the Lok Sabha Seats


Diya Kumari: The daughter of Maharaja Bhawani Singhji and Maharani Shri Padmini Devi Sahiba, Diya Kumari belongs to the royal family of Jaipur. She is the granddaughter of Rajmata Gayatri Devi who was known for her beauty and being an efficient leader.

Following her grandmother’s footsteps, she forays into politics formally in September of 2013 in the presence of BJP’s leaders Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh and Vasundhara Raje. The entry of Kumari into politics was well-timed as the state was heading towards assembly poll. Kumari is all set to contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Sawai Madhopur seat with a BJP ticket and will face Dr. Kirori Lal Meena.

Dushyant Singh: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's only son, Dushyant Singh is a two time sitting BJP MP from Jhalawar-Baran since 2009. He is the son of last recognized titular Maharaja of Dholpur, Hemant Singh. The constituency of Jhalawar is represented by Vasundhara's son Dushyant Singh since 2003 when the seat fell vacant following his mother becoming the Chief Minister of the state.
Singh entered into politics to experience the heat and dust of the game where he is a novice. As a political leader, he usually moves around in villages and sometimes sleeps there. Such acts of him has brings him closer to people. In the 16th LS poll, Singh is facing stiff challenge from senior Congress leader and former state cabinet minister Pramod Jain Bhaya. His main goal is to help India progress into a developed nation and improve the standard and quality of life of its people starting with the constituency of Jhalawar-Baran in the State of Rajasthan.
