Patel’s father was a cotton farmer living in a village of 500 people in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district. With some initial capital from his father, Mavji’s elder brother, Vallabhbhai S. Patel who is also the CEO of Kiran Gems travelled to Mumbai and started the company. He was soon joined by his younger brother, Mavji who was a fresh commerce graduate then. In one simple sentence he sums up this grand journey, "The most important thing is family because the business is all about trust," he said to ET.
