India, UK Join Hands to Strengthen India's Education System


For devising the future collaborative programmes the two Joint working groups are actively promoting innovations and skill development. The need for capacity building of English language teachers in new methodologies was also documented by the ministers.

The two leaders declared their support for a strong partnership for developing skills to their citizens. The enhanced increase in opportunities in the delivery of vocational skills in all sectors by hiked engagement of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) with the Sector Councils in India was also noted by the ministers.

To promote training to teachers using web-based and other innovative technology the ministers was welcomed by the partnership between the UK Open University and Government of India promoted by British Council and UKAID. With emphasis on quality and equity the leaders also welcomed the UK-India partnership to support secondary education through the Government of India's Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) in order to universalise access to secondary education.

The UK-India partnership seems like a plus point to the future students of India, in terms of getting access to good quality education.
